The idea of this website is mainly to publish our light trapping results as soon as possible after the event. As the Moths Plus name suggests we will include other aspects, mainly of an invertebrate nature which we find interesting. Most of the recording will be from V.C.55 (Leicestershire and Rutland) but trips to other counties will be included as and when.

Bedellia somnulentella

One of those species which does not get seen for years, then has a good year and looks like 2011 is it.

On the basis of reports that it's getting recorded frequently in the counties south of us I decided to have a search of any Hedge Bindweed I could find. First stretch at Kirkby Mallory was successful plus another half a dozen stops, all around the Market Bosworth area. It's a good one to find, not many records for it, so with a bit of effort we could help put a few dots on the map, before it dissapears again. Obvious creamy yellow blotches, with frass tangled up in silken threads on the underside of the leaf.
